Play-Wight[edit]

While Bards can qualify to become Liches they find that they don't enjoy the social stigma around liches and it tends to hurt their career, so a great bard created a new type of intelligent undead for the lyrically talented

While undead, the form was created by those who care too much about the way they look. Their hair is often in a tuft over one eye, and their eyes are sunken back slightly to create an edgy punk feel despite being well into old age now. Often they dress in the same clothing that the "cool cats" are wearing as they attempt to integrate into regular society.

Creating a Play-Wight[edit]

The Play-Wight is an acquired template that can be applied to any arcane caster with at least 14 ranks in a perform skill. Despite the name this does not have to be related to Theatre.

Size and Type[edit]

The creature's type becomes Undead, but do not recalculate base attack bonus, saves, or skill points. Size in unchanged.

Hit Dice[edit]

All current and future Hit Dice increase to d12s

Speed[edit]

A Play-Wight's speed is unaffected.

Armor Class[edit]

The Play-Wight gains a +2 bonus to natural armor.

Attack[edit]

A Play-Wight gains a touch attack they can use once every 1d4 rounds, which is detailed under Special Attacks.

Full Attack[edit]

A Play-Wight may use its touch attack within a full attack when it is available to use.

Special Attacks[edit]

Just a Touch of Madness (Su): the creative types are always just a little mad, and you may attack others with it. You may make a melee touch attack and the enemy takes 1d6 untyped damage/3 HD.

Special Qualities[edit]

Musical Theatre (Su): Once per day, you may write a musical and perform one of its songs. Roll a d% or flip a coin upon using this ability. There is a 50% chance that it is amazing, and the same chance that you were deluding yourself. If it is amazing 12 characters within 100' of you are moved, literally. You may grant move actions to each of these people in range. Unfortunately, this can have an effect less pleasant if the song is ill received. If this is the case all within the same range must make a will save, DC 10+half your total HD+your charisma modifier or be shaken on the next turn and take 4d6 Sonic Damage when you play the song. Additionally you are disheartened and cannot produce this effect for a week as you wonder if this really is the unlife for you.

Pre-Show Speech (Su): A number of times equal to your charisma modifier per day you may inspire your allies, adding your charisma modifier to their Skill Checks, Attack, and Damage for a 10 minutes. Additionally you may use a charge of this ability to "address the audience" and cause any enemy that can hear you to make a will save, DC 10+1/2 HD+Cha Mod, or fall under the effects of a sleep spell.

Cult Following: You add double your charisma mod to your leadership score, should you have one, but only for gaining level 1 followers.

A True Classic You become immortal but only so long as your works exist. You have a single tome with every song, play, poem, diary entry, and artwork you've ever produced inside and it uses the same statistics as a lich's phylactery. If this tome is ever destroyed you will cease to exist, if your age is over your normal maximum. If you die while the tome exists them a new you will form from the pages in 1d% days.

A Thrilling Performer: Undead can be effected by abilities gained through this template as well as any Bardic Music you are capable of creating. Mindless undead are entitled to a will save to resist such an effect but do so at a -5 penalty.
