P'Troid[edit]

A result of alien infection within the formerly inhabited husks of others, these alien creatures persist in the material plane in spite of their eldritch origins.

The natural form of the p'troid is ill defined, as it is believed they are creatures of the Far Realm. They have been described as transparent, amorphous, and ooze or cephalopod-like. Like all things on the Far Realm they are insane, dangerous, or evil to all things in the material world. Fortunately, they are entirely unstable in the physics of the world. In rare cases however they become attached to items of psychic significance and obtain a manner of stability in the world. When this item is a suit of armor, the humanoid shape allows them to manifest an ooze-like body within the armor and become completely stable within the world in which they are able to enact their will. This form is imprinted with the psychic imprints of its former owner, shaping its appearance and personality through the warped lens of the Far Realm.

Everywhere the p'troid goes is affected by its subtle and terrible radiation. Lairs of a p'troid inevitably become host to monsters, mutants, and magical horror.

Racial Traits[edit]

  • +2 Constitution: The alien biology of the p'troid is difficult to injure through conventional physics.
  • Aberration: Innately alien, the p'troid only mimics humanoid form and nothing more.
  • Medium: As a Medium creature, a p'troid has no special bonuses or penalties due to its size.
  • P'Troid base land speed is 30 feet. Hover 30 ft (perfect)
  • Darkvision: A p'troid can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and a p'troid can function just fine with no light at all.
  • Armor Shell: P'troids exists because of the husks they steal, and effectively have a warforged's composite armor. The plating provides a +2 armor bonus. This plating is not natural armor and does not stack with other effects that give an armor bonus (other than natural armor). This composite plating occupies the same space on the body as a suit of armor or a robe, and thus a p'troid cannot wear armor or magic robes. P'Troids can be enchanted just as armor can be. The character must be present for the entire time it takes to enchant him. The armor also provides a p'troid with a 5% arcane spell failure chance, similar to the penalty for wearing light armor. Any class ability that allows a p'troid to ignore the arcane spell failure chance for light armor lets him ignore this penalty as well. They can take warforged only feats which augment or alter their armor.
  • Light Fortification (Ex): When a critical hit or sneak attack is scored on a p'troid, there is a 25% chance that the critical hit or sneak attack is negated and damage is instead rolled normally.
  • Mimic (Ex): No p'troid exists inherently without stealing from a material being. Choose a humanoid creature: you gain the appropriate humanoid subtypes and count as that species for the purpose of pre-requities.
  • Radioactive Blood (Ex): P'Troids have the radioactive blood effect as if they had the graft.
  • Voidborn (Ex): P'Troids take no damage or penalties from pressure extremes, including zero pressure, and are immune to the radiation and environmental rigors of outer space. They do not need to eat, sleep, or breathe.
  • Automatic Languages: Common, Aklo
  • Bonus Languages: Any (except secret languages)
  • Favored Class: Warlock
  • Level Adjustment: +0
  • Effective Character Level: 1

Racial Paragon Class[edit]

Many p'troids take the P'Troid Paragon class.
