Manu[edit]

Humans from the world of Dar E'lund, the Manu are proud and ambitious citizens who have become the land's dominant force. Their origin supposedly stems from an exile from another world to a planet of hostile beasts and cryptic secrets. Determined not to fall prey to the environment, these exiled humans rebuilt society in their image and quickly began a campaign of taming their world. After much time, their bodies have subtly altered to their new environment; one of industrial strength, a culture of ambition, and might makes right.

Personality[edit]

In Dar E'lund (and in particular the major superpower of Dakhhin), the culture encourages ambition into following what you are good at, and being able to take pride in your work. It recognizes that everyone has talents, and encourages them to become the best of whatever their field may be. Those that have menial jobs are encouraged to follow their dreams through hobby until opportunity can be provided. And the secret unspoken rule is that one should make opportunity for themselves, which has led some down a darker path.

And so it is ambition that defines the manu. There is nothing which cannot be overcome, simply prices unwilling to be paid. Their drive and zeal causes them to take on extremes in alignment easily, and the culture should have rightly torn itself apart by now. However, they recognize common threads in others and often find themselves allying with opposition when needed. It is like an entire species of hotblooded rivals, both enemy and friend.

This sort of behavior, combined with a thought of might makes right, leads to a world in constant, yet low-level strife. Fights are constant, but since they make friends as easily as they make enemies, their battles often do not last long enough to cause major damage to life and property. This has given them the appearance of being chaotic, but the manu host lawful, but zealous, hotheads as much as their chaotic ones.

Physical Description[edit]

The manu, being born of human, is a very human-like creature possessing all the normal traits of mankind in all its variations and skin tones. They're ears are slightly pointed and they can be born with chalky gray or pale blue skin tone as well as normal colors. Eyes can be any color, and sometimes blank and pupilless (a trait which does not seem to inhibit vision). Lastly they possess larger and more pronounced canines, though they are not large or sharp enough to grant any sort of bite attack. These odd traits make some believe that fey stock has gotten mixed into their race at some point, explaining the extremes in emotions, their shifting nature, and physical oddities. The nature of this fey, however, is nothing but pure speculation.

Relations[edit]

The manu make difficult allies. Making friends with one manu is easy. Making friends with a group is no more difficult than a group of humans. Making friends with a nation or other large section of manu is hard as their culture is likely broken up socially. Some may join your cause, some will not, and the infighting begins. Only a threat larger than their petty arguements between each other will unify them, and when it does they become a dangerous force indeed; a group with all the strengths of humanity powered by an unshakable will.

Alignment[edit]

Manu can be any alignment, and are often on the extremes.

Lands[edit]

The manu come from the planet Dar E'lund, but as humanity is ought to do, they can be found almost anywhere doing almost anything.

Religion[edit]

The manu religion is as fragmented as the manu themselves. There is no known universal deity among them.
