As you walk by the weeping willow, there is a loud snap and a large net-like branch slams down upon you. It crackles with electrical energy coursing through your body!

The manswatter is a tree with a hunger for flesh. It resembles a weeping willow, and hidden within its drooping canopy are two large vine tentacles which spray out into large nets of thin metallic fibers. When prey comes near it snaps out with it's "swatters" and shocks the target into submission and paralysis, then drags the helpless body into its mouth at the top of its trunk for digestion, closing the way out with the living nets. It doesn't usually move, but can slide around on its thick leg-like roots.

Manswatters don't hunt humanoids specifically, but humans often fall prey to its dangers. It stands 30 feet tall.

Combat[edit]

Manswatters stay still to appear as a normal tree, then attack suddenly. They paralyze all they can and then drag the survivors into its mouth for digestion. It moves only if it needs to.

Paralysis (Ex): A creature entangled by the swatters at the start of their turn must make a Fortitude save DC 17 or become paralyzed for 1d6 rounds from the electric current. Creatures immune to electricity are immune to this paralysis. Paralyzed creatures are usually swallowed next round.

Swallow Whole (Ex): The manswatter can try to swallow a grabbed or (more likely) helpless opponent of Medium or smaller size by making a successful grapple check. Once inside, the opponent takes 2d6 points of electric damage and are exposed to its paralysis each round. A swallowed creature can cut its way out by dealing 20 points of damage to the flora webbing over its top (AC 19). Once the creature exits, sap and leaves close the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out. The manswatter's gullet can hold 2 Medium, 8 Small, 32 Tiny, 128 Diminutive, or 512 Fine creatures.

Swatters (Ex): The manswatter's titular "swatters" are tipped with organic green nets rich in copper. If they hit they entangle as a net though they deal bludgeoning damage. They also deal an extra 2d6 electric damage on hit. The manswatter can press its swatter down on an entangled target to keep it there, though this prevents its use as a natural weapon. Every round a creature starts their turn entangled by the net it takes 2d6 electric damage and is exposed to its paralysis ability.

Skills: Manswatters have a +20 bonus to disguise checks to appear as a tree.
