"You're a pawn, so be the pawn you are!" And so the fighter clattered to the floor as a chess piece.
Those that fail the Fortitude save are transformed into an inanimate object two sizes smaller than they are, with a hardness up to 5. Any items are absorbed into their body or dropped at their feet at their choice. They also must make a subsequent Will save; if successful they retain their senses and ability to speak (but not make somatic components), have a movement speed of 5 ft, and can only deal 1 point of damage with any attack they make. They gain a Slam attack while transformed.
The spell ends at the end of the duration, or if they take at least 1 point of damage per caster level after hardness during the duration (it need not be all at once).
If this spell is cast in a spell slot two levels higher, you can target one creature per two caster levels.
