Heavy Pressure Suit[edit]

The heavy pressure suit is typically a spacesuit, though it is equally capable in deep sea expeditions and other places of extreme pressure and temperature. The suit is airtight and layered with insulation and pockets of gas to compensate for pressure, with a backpack connected to an air supply and rebreather unit that can keep its user alive with breathable air for a limited time, and a long lasting battery to power the mechanical systems within. It comes with a helmet with a wide angle golden visor which can be made completely opaque to the outside.

The heavy pressure suit prevents any pressure damage from high pressure situations or vacuums. You also benefit from an extraordinary endure elements effect. If the helmet is on, the suit is airtight, preventing gases and liquids from affecting you. If the helmet is replaced by anything, the suit cannot be made airtight until the helmet is replaced. It is possible of course to simply enhance the current helmet as a magic item of its own. When airtight, breathable air lasts for 8 hours before the user begins to suffocate. The suit can be placed into oxygen saving mode, and the air supply will last 3 times as long (24 hours) but the user will be constantly staggered due to the low amount of air.

Unlike the light pressure suit, the heavy pressure suit is designed for more rigorous dangers, such as micrometeorites. The suit has DR 5/- or the appropriate Energy Resistance 5 against environmental hazards such as hail or thorns, but not against direct attacks such as a sword or a magically summoned wall of thorns. If the suit is adamantine, the damage reduction stacks.

Donning a heavy pressure suit takes twice as long as donning full plate.

  1. If the character has some help, cut this time in half. A single character doing nothing else can help one or two adjacent characters. Two characters can't help each other don armor at the same time.
  2. The wearer must have help to don this armor. Without help, it can be donned only hastily.
