Headhuntress Earrings[edit]

Price: 12,080 gp
Body Slot:
Caster Level: 11th
Aura: Strong Necromancy and Transmutation
Activation: Use-activated, see text
Weight:

Two red pearls to each, with a red droplet gem below, dainty and dangling.

Each earring is strung through gold wire, with two red pearls stacked on top of a droplet-shaped blood crystalPathfinder.

When one earring is placed on the severed head of a humanoid or monstrous humanoid and the other on the opposite ear of the wearer themselves (so long as they are also either a humanoid or monstrous humanoid of the same size), the earrings merge the severed head into the wearer's own head, wherein their head and face are transformed to that of the severed head.

Merging such a head grants the wearer any ability or feature that would be given by monstrous physique IPathfinder pertinent to the creature's head, and supressing any of their own in the process. Additionally, a head grants a circumstance bonus to Disguise checks used to impersonate the individual (from +2 to +10) depending on the nature of the required disguise and the difference in their own appearance. Not too unexpectedly, the wearer also gains any head-based frailties, such as light blindness or sensitivity.

The wearer also gains the base languages of the subject and the ability to make Knowledge checks as if they were the head's original owner.

If the head was severely damaged or deteriorated, the wearer takes 2d6 damage and 2 Constitution damage from the process and their new appearance reflects some of the state of damage the head suffered. Depending on the state of the wearer when the effect ends, the head may end up in a fresher state than when it started, as the merging process renews and restores it over time (at the DM's discretion).

This transformation is permanent until properly undone. Removing the earrings must be done in the correct order, starting with the one placed on the head first, then the one placed on the wearer. If not, the earrings are removed without effect and must be placed back on and removed in the correct order.

Alternately, while the earrings are removed, the effect may be ended with a casting of remove curse or greater while someone pulls on the wearer's head. Killing the wearer also ends the effect.

Owners of these earrings often keep unguent of timelessness on hand to keep their disguises from deteriorating.
