This substantial leather-bound tome has a lock to keep the cover closed. It is otherwise decorated with rivets and small gems.
This focus tome serves as a special spell focusing item for certain spells. Whenever the holder of this book casts a spell that grants an enhancement bonus to an ability score (such as bear's endurance), they may also designate a +2 enhancement bonus to another ability score not modified normally by the spell as it is cast.
Mildly cursed versions of this book also exist. If the caster of the spell fails to properly cast the spell while using a cursed edition of the book, there's a 50% chance that the spell still goes off, but the spell instead grants a penalty to those abilities instead for the duration.
The edition of the tome presented here comes with a good lock.
The book must be open and in hand for the caster to gain benefit from it.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, a good lock, any three of either bear's endurance, bull's strength, cat's grace, eagle's splendor, fox's cunning or owl's wisdom.
