This stone disc, when given the command word, affixes itself to any object (typically the ceiling). From that point on it detects if there are any sources of smoke that come within 30 ft of it. When this occurs the stone emits a piercing screech for 1 hour that can be heard up to a quarter-mile away (assuming no intervening barriers). It can be turned off manually with a standard action.
Some can place them in conjunction with magic traps of create water on the ceiling. This form of fire divination discs cost an additional 250 gp, but the trap cannot be easily moved as it is technically architecture. When triggered, the create water traps it is linked to go off, spraying water for up to 10 minutes or until turned off.
Supposedly there are cursed versions of these devices floating around. After 6 months, they become non-functional and emit a loud beep every minute for the rest of time.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, clairaudience/clairvoyance.
