1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

The Fencing Montante is a fine weapon, it design make the weapon sleek and elegant at the cost of balance which make it harder to use. However it is an extremely rewarding weapon in dexterous hands. The Fencing Montante is a weapon that requires coordination and control to be wielded effectively, and its weight and length gives it significant momentum that can be used to advantage when fighting multiple opponents.

A user with the Exotic Weapon Proficient can use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply the Dexterity modifier instead of the Strength modifier to attack rolls with a Fencing Montante, even though it isn’t a light weapon for you and even use the weapon one-handed. In the hand of such wielder the Fencing Montante is counted as a one-handed weapon whenever advantageous.

Despite its great size, a Fencing Montante, with its guard-close balance point, doesn't allow the wielder to apply 1/2 of the strenght score when used two-handed,

A Fencing Montante counts as a Bastard sword or as a Greatsword (but not as these two last weapons together) for the purpose of any of the following feats: Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization, Improved Critical, Weapon Focus, and Weapon Specialization: if a character has any of these feats both on the Bastard sword and the Greatsword, the bonuses of the feats from the two last weapons are not cumulative within the Fencing Montante.
