A terrible creature from the deep forest of Erebys. These horrible bears have all black eyes and fur and stand taller than even a polar bear. Erebian bears are very aggressive and territorial, with an exception for other erebian bears. Thus they form large colonies, capable of displacing humanoid settlements of humanoid, or slaughtering them wholesale.

Combat[edit]

Erebian bears are very aggressive and fight to the death. They will typically start an encounter by trying to call an additional erebian bear. Otherwise they fight very much like a normal bear does.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, an erebian bear must hit with a claw attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity.

Maneuver-like Abilities (Ex): Erebian bears are expert at working together, each Erebian Bear possess two maneuver-like abilities from the White Raven Discipline, both up to 3rd level. Any positive effect from these maneuver-like abilities (such as many boost) may only apply to other Erebian Bears.

Pseudo-Intelligence (Ex): Erebian bears may use their Wisdom when making Intelligence checks, they also use their Wisdom score as an Intelligence score for the purpose tactics and problem solving.

Skills: An erebian bear has a +4 racial bonus on Swim checks.

You and What Army? (Ex) When there are fewer than twelve Erebian Bears on the battlefield an Erebian bear may use a swift action to call another erebian bear with 50% chance of success. The erebian bear arrive at the start of next round and use the initiative of the bear summoned him. Once this ability is used, whether successfully or not the erebian bear and the bear it summoned may not attempt to use it for 5 rounds.
