Dungeons and Dragons Wiki:Identifier
Wiki Syntax |
Every homebrew article has an identifier, along with many non-homebrew articles.
An identifier is the article type in parenthesis after the name of the article. They are usually made up of two parts: the edition and the article type. The edition for homebrew articles is one of "3.5e" or "4e" while for publications it includes the prior plus "Basic Rules" "1e" and "2e" where 1e and 2e correspond to Advanced Dungeons and Dragons first edition and second edition. The second section is often obvious.
For example, for the 3.5e race, Yoshi, the identifier is (3.5e Race).
We use identifiers to avoid the need for disambiguation between editions and article types.
If you do not add identifiers to your articles, somebody will rename the page without creating a redirect.
Furthermore, due to the extremely hacky template we use to avoid showing the identifiers, Template:Pipe Trick, an article cannot include parenthesis in its title outside of the identifier. We suggest using commas instead.
