Disrupting Flame[edit]

Weapons enhanced with this ability have an undead-banishing flame, and it can cause corpses felled by it to explode with divine flame. It flames change color in the presence of undead. A favorite of undead smiting paladins, disrupting flame weapons are cloaked in a ghostly ethereal flame that turns white-hot when undead are near. As an enhancement it deals +1d6 additional fire damage which stacks with the likes of Flaming and similar effects. Against undead, this and any other fire damage dealt by the weapon becomes divine fire which ignores fire resistance and immunity, and can affect incorporeal or ethereal creatures normally. If an undead is destroyed within 1 round after being struck by this weapon, it explodes dealing 1 point of divine fire damage per HD of the felled creature to all undead within 10 ft, no save.

The weapon can detect undead as the color of its flame transform from orange to white when undead are within 30 ft. It is subject to the line of effect limitations of detect undead.

This enhancement can be applied to a Flaming or Flaming Burst weapon as a +1 enhancement.

Moderate Evocation; CL 9th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, detect undead, flame strike; Price: +2 or +1 if applied to a Flaming or Flaming Burst weapon.
