Quests in Diablo give the party XP for an encounter equal in CR to the average party level.

The Butcher: The quest begins if you find a wounded townsman outside the church. You must kill The Butcher who is in a red room on the second level. For killing him, you receive the Butcher's Cleaver.

Poisoned Water Supply: When the water in the town's fountain is yellow instead of blue, it indicates that this quest is available. On the second level of the dungeon you will find a dark passage to a unique area in which you must kill all the monsters. Return to Pepin to receive the Ring of Truth. The fountain's water will return to blue once the quest is complete.

The Curse of King Leoric: The Skeleton King's Lair on the third level appears if you can do this quest. The area features hidden rooms, so pull all the levels and attack all the crucifixes to make them appear. The lair has many skeletons and the Skeleton King, who wears the The Undead Crown. The Skeleton King can raise the dead skeletons.

Gharbad the Weak: Gharbad the Weak can be found on the fourth level. If you talk to him, he will give you a random magical item.

Ogden's Sign: The stairs from the fourth to the fifth level are blocked by Snotspill. He wants you to fetch the Tavern sign which is around the block, but so does Ogden. Ogden will give you Harlequin's Crest in exchange for the sign, while Snotspill will just attack you.

The Magic Rock: Take the rock from the pedestal on the fifth level to Griswold in town and he will give you the Empyrean Band.

Valor: On the fifth level will be a group of rooms shaped like a cross. When you enter the double doors, there will be the first blood stone. Place the stone on the book sitting on the pedestal in that room. Exit that room and go to the door that is now open. Take the blood stone in that room back to the book and repeat the process in the third room that will open up. This unlocks another room, in which you will find Arkaine's Valor.

The Chamber of Bone: Reading the book on the sixth level, will open a stairway to a unique level. Once there, open secret rooms by pulling the two levers. In the center of this level is a chamber filled with bones. Past this chamber is a room with a book, which, when read, completes the quest and your Guardian spell level increases by one. The chests on this level contain magical items and are more often unique.

Halls of the Blind: On the seventh level, there will be a room shaped like an eight. If you read the book found on the level, it will open two doors of the "8". The Optic Amulet will appear in the upper room when you kill all the Illusion Weavers.

Zhar the Mad: Zhar the Mad is by a book case on the eight level and will give you a book when you talk to him. If you touch the book case, Zhar will attack you. His death will reward you with a random magical item. The book case will not have dropped a book in this instance. To get it to drop a book, use telekinesis on it before you chat with Zhar or talk to him twice before touching the book case. If you kill him in this case, you will get a book from the book case.

Black Mushroom: Bring the fungal tome you find on the ninth level to Adria in town. A large black mushroom will now appear on the ninth level which you should retrieve for Adria. She will then tell you about a demon's brain and the next creature you kill will provide a brain. Take the brain to Pepin in town, who will give you a spectral elixir in exchange. Take the elixir to Adria, although she will say you can keep it. The potion grants a +4 bonus to any 3 ability scores.

Slain Hero: On the ninth level, you will come across a slain hero carrying a random magic item.
