Detect Mineral

Range: 60 ft.
Area: Cone-shaped emanation
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 min./level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

Stop, I feel it. There's gold in these rocks.

You detect a particular mineral or element, chosen on casting this spell. The amount of information revealed depends on how long you study a particular area or subject.

1st Round: Presence or absence of the chosen mineral in the area.

2nd Round: Number of different continuous chunks of the mineral and their purity.

3rd Round: The location of each aura, as well as their depth, pressure, and temperature.

Each round, you can turn to detect minerals in a new area. The spell can penetrate barriers including solid rock and metal, but a thin sheet of lead still blocks it. In fact, lead is the only mineral it cannot detect, except by exclusion.

Detect mineral can be made permanent with a permanency spell for 500 XP (minimum caster level 9th).
