Defensive Robes

This outfit is both stylish and protective.

Defensive Robes, while commonly called such, need not be robes. Rather, they are any form of clothing which has been magically enhanced for superior protective qualities. It grants an armor bonus to AC much like magical armor, but does not count as armor with one exception; it counts as armor for the purpose of equipping armor crystals^MIC. Unlike Bracers of Armor, Defensive Robes' armor bonus is not a force effect and does not apply against incorporeal touch attacks, and it is limited to a maximum bonus of +5 like normal armor. However, like normal armor, it may be enhanced with special qualities. For magical special qualities which function differently on the type of armor it is being used on, you may consider defensive robes to be light armor, though it actually isn't.

Defensive Robes have an armor bonus of +0, no maximum dex, no armor check penalty, and no arcane spell failure. The benefit comes entirely from the robe's enhancement bonus, as seen on the table below:
