This incredibly grotesque weapon initially takes the form of a +2 keen greatspear made entirely of blackened wrought iron. The iron making this spear is heavily infused with necromantic energy, treating it as cold iron and evil-aligned for the purpose of bypassing damage reduction and regeneration.
Upon killing a creature with a confirmed critical hit, a coup de grace or through a grapple made with the Impale feat, the corpse of the slain creature becomes lodged on the spear on its length and animate as a zombie under the command of the bearer of the spear once freed.
The zombie is permanent until destroyed, or until the bearer uses the corpsestake greatspear to create another.
The corpsestake greatspear is a unique item that cannot be replicated, but is not an artifact and thus may be destroyed or enhanced further as normal.
