Citadel Ikron[edit]

Citadel Ikron is the capital city of the Dragonborn (Dray) In the UCMR, a continent in the Nor Galad campaign setting. Ikron is located in the ruins of the Volcano Ikron, from where it gains it's name, and is one of main centers of trade for weaponry in the UCMR. It also known as a learning center for both traditional martial arts and psionic training. Ikron is an impressive spectacle- huge, draconic looking spires loom over head, earth motes (such as those represented in the Forgotten Realms campaign) float around the the citadel, housing (usually) multi-dimension pockets of schools, academies, and other academical institutes. (This saves the city from a barrage of accidental explosions from the science academies, which is how the mote making process was started). As it is the Dragonborn capital, the majority of Ikron's many inhabitants are the Dragonborn.

Origin and History[edit]

Ikron was built by the Dragon Born Empire after the Great Eruption, the catastrophic eruption of the Volcano nearly three hundred years ago marking the first appearance of the Dragonborn Empire into the world of Sentia. Citadel Ikron was built around the destroyed base of Volcano Ikron, which it is named after. Although Ikron is now an industrial city, it was originally designed as a citadel, an fortress of defense against any aggressive parties; these traits can still be seen by its imposing features. Looming walls, gloomy underground tunnels, and a magically fueled defense system--Ikron was made with war in mind. The Citadel stands tall today as the Capital of the Dragonborn people and one of the greatest trading centers of the world.

The Dragonborn people created Citadel Ikron with their own blood, sweat and tears, their stubbornness, willpower and determination propelling them forward into an increasingly competitive age of industrialism and ingenuity. The walls of Ikron stand as a testament to their will to fight back, and protect what is theirs for ages to come.

The (dubbed) "Great Eruption"[edit]

The "Great Eruption" was an recent event (in the last 300 years), that brought many changes to Sentia. The "Eruption" caused the destruction of the active volcano, Ikron, and the rediscovery of the ancient Dragonborn Empire, marking the the first mass Dragonborn appearances in Sentia for over a thousand years.

Volcan Ikron[edit]

There were many questions asked when the Dragonborn initially reemerged into Sentia, a thousand years since their disappearance. Why are they here? Where did they come from?...and so on. Historians have slowly glimpsed the true history of the Volcano Ikron and the disappearance and reappearance of the Dragonborn Empire, mainly through communicating with the volcanic titan that had been dwelling in the Ikron Volcano before and during the "Eruption"

Ikron was an active volcano housing a huge, titan level volcanic being with close to god-lke power. He is considered a primal/neutral elemental, who leaves well alone from the warring Ancient factions. While dwelling in the mountain, the titan was bound by powerful magics to an alternate plane, un-wittingly giving power to a plane which imprisoned the Dragonborn--this went on for hundreds/thousands of years. The Dragonborn were trapped for so long in this plane, that they began living only in myth and legends. The planar city was guarded by Demons, so only on rare occasions would anyone (usually adventurers) escape the city. Demons with the promise of blood and powr, as well as Devils [from the promise of employment] both from an unknown source. Eventually the plane could not contain the sheer willpower of the Dray (another word for Dragonborn) inside the city, and the volcano Ikron, in which the plane was based, overflowed with both natural and un-natural nature. From the ruins, the Dragonborn built themselves a new city from the scattered remains of the pocket plane, tapping into the raw energy of the volcano Ikron, and using their strength to rise up in an world, which until the day of their arrival, had only been myth in legends from the oldest members of their society.
The Spirit of Ikron resides over the Citadel, protecting the Dragonborn from harm.

  • Though he may have originally been an Primordial or other powerful being dwelling in the elemental chaos, or possibly at an earlier time a "Demon Prince" (the "Wanderer") who "turned" as he chanced upon the elemental chaos. However this may be a completely unrelated being, as the Wanderer disappeared after creating peace and relative order to the denizens of the Elemental Chaos/Hells/Abyss region. It turns out he ran the area like a mix between a Mafia Boss and a Benevolent King.

Districts[edit]

Capital Building (Ikron's Heart)[edit]

The capital building of Ikron is the center of governmental changes of the Dragonborn province, as well as the city itself. The building represents the Dragonborn's strong cultural tradition while bringing the youth and new ideas of a forward moving world.

Education District[edit]

The education district (also known as the Motes) is the primary area of learning and academical focus in Ikron. The district runs from the capital building to the northern wall, and is filled with many different academies and training areas for young students. The education district is also home to the most amount of floating Earth Motes in it's altitude vicinity, where most of the more advanced institutes are located. These schools were previously unaccessible to the general public, being limited by flight to acess by flight and teleportation only. However in recent years the larger more progressive schools in the area have helped maintain a public courtyard area containing many portals to the local "Mote Floatin' Academies"(as they're sometimes called).

Encounters in Ikron[edit]

For the most part, Ikron is a very safe city- one of the safer cities in the UC. However, there are many possibilities for danger in certain areas of Ikron if one is not careful...

Hazards and Accidents[edit]

The most deadly "encounters" in Ikron are the hazards, including: fireballs, potion explosions, experimental zombies, and things like that.

The Ikron Pocket[edit]

Plane Traits[edit]

The "Ikron pocket" as some call it, which is now destroyed, is the plane which contained the Dragonborn and their city in the volcano of Impron, hiding them from the rest of the world.

History[edit]

The Ikron Pocket was created by an unknown source. This "source" must have been very powerful and had many connections, striking bargains with the Fiends(demons and devils) who guard the the outside of the pocket plane. The motives behind this beings entities actions, the trapping of the entirety of the Dragonborn race inside a single Pocket Plane, are still unknown.

Plane Qualities: The original qualities of the Ikron Pocket plane were rather simple: It was a morphic plane, designed to entrap the Dragonborn, forever keeping them from entering Sentia (or anywhere else). The plane originally accomplished this by keeping the Dragonborn asleep- however not of it's own power, but rather due to advanced machinery gained Elsewhere. . During this long period of time, each Dragonborn was stored inside canisters filled with some type of bio-liquid (think sci-fi, matrixey): rows, and rows upon Dragonborn, with tubes attached to their bodies, sustenance in the form of energy being fed to them-just enough to keep them alive, while a greater amount of energy flowed from the Dragonborn. This ended when one of the first "new era" dragonborn, Morpheous escaped from the pod. He then went out to break others from the pods, including one very powerful warrior, Neo who led the other dragonborn out of the fake reality and..(Ok, ok, I'm kidding. I was writing this and realized how much my idea was sounding like the matrix, after I wrote that first about how the pods are matrixey.) (i'll write more in detail about that soon). Eventually, the Dragonborns rebuilt their city, based on their capital city from before-the one that now resembles modern day ikron- however, they were now under control of the plane- the dragonborn were charmed, building, eating and living as if it was the happiest thing in their life. The city was built as part of the plane, to reasure the dream-like fake quality of the charm, which ended up being the downfall of the plane. Evenetually even this grew to much for the plane, and could only grow to contain the willpower of the Dragonborn from spilling out into other planes. Eventually even this became too much, as the Dragonborn continued to expand with thier common sense of teamwork, dedication, and industralism, to expand anywhere they are. The plane reverted to containing only physical space. This was the state Ikron Pocket was in before it "exploded", releasing the dragonborn back into sentia. Their was a very interesting expierence that dragonborn recalled, and (was part of a rite of passage?) called, leaving the Plane. (or something simalir).
The Spirit of Ikron resides over the Citadel, protecting the Dragonborn from harm.

Description of "Leaving the Plane[edit]

(written while very tired. It was a very interesting idea I was exaplaining to someone, and I figure i better write it now, even when i was very tired.
A dragonborn would walk away from the city, and would be greated with rocky, semi-desert terrain (not sand-dunes). In the distance would be a mountain- a falase representation of the original Mount. Ikron-which was next to the city in the times when the original dragonborn capital was in sentia. After maybe a half hour of walking, the mountain would become hazy, and disapear. Eventually, it seemed the plain (and I mean plain- the weather is much like the plains)stopped, with only blackness. Looking up (and only once near the edge), a dragonborn could see the sky, with hints of the astral sea glimpsing in and out, with flashed pictures, constelations with images that danced, and something simalir to our Northern Lights. If one then steps out off the plane, you would look back, and see a small snow globe like image of the IKron pocket behind you. The stars and constellations would be all around you- disconcerting at first, but eventually the realization dawns which way is up. By walking backwards, you could appear into the ikron pocket. Walking forward, you would eventually see the outline of a very typical evil graveyard- a great mount, with a iron picket fence, and gravestones sticking out of the ground. Flashes of lighting, and a full moon could appear as well, outlining the shapes of the evil fiends, as well as other grave lurkers.

  • Time: Info
  • Size:

The Pocket of Ikron was a continuously growing plane. The plane had to grow in energy, to contain the thoughts of the Dragonborn in the city-which it eventually failed and, and concentrated all it's energy into growing in size, to accomadate the growth of the Dragonborn people, who continued living as if nothing had happened.

Plane Links[edit]

Currently I have no plans for plane links to exist in detail, or for the Ikron Pocket to still exist in some way. The entrance of course would be the volcano Top (now a big chasm with primal energy in the form of magma). The idea of going into the broken Ikron Pocket is something that appeals to me as an adventure, but I currently have no plans to make one.

Plane Inhabitants[edit]

When the plane existed, Dragonborn. Now, if the plane somehow survived, only trapped Demons and Devils would remain-although this is highly unlikely, as most Fiends are able to teleport to call for teleportation to their home plan.

Features of the Plane[edit]

When the plane existed, one would have seen a site much similar to the current Citadel Ikron.
