A double move occurs when you use the actions during your turn to move twice, instead of doing other things.
3rd Edition[edit]
A double move is simply using your turn's move action and standard action to move twice your base speed. It is not explicitly references in the Player's Handbook, but follows from the ability to use a move action with your standard action.
4th Edition[edit]
A double move is simply using your turn's Standard and Move actions to move twice your base speed. It is not explicitly references in the Player's Handbook, but follows from the ability to trade down your Standard Action for an additional Move Action.
