The bouncing metal frame is supported by two vaguely organic looking legs ending in padded nubs. It rumbles like a car engine as it effortlessly carries a heavy backpack of supplies.
The Luna-Tesla Corporation's contracts with the military brought it the problem of soldiers transporting large and heavy goods over long distances. While the exoskeleton problem was helping nicely, exoskeletons had to be custom fit to users and was unable to operate without a humanoid host to carry. Taking a hint from older times when donkeys and mules were used for transport, the company set out to produce the BigDog and it's sequel, BiggerDog.
Appearing as a quadruped box with somewhat slender organic looking legs, the BigDog series turned out to be highly effective on the battlefield, able to carry heavy loads without tiring and being able to move on its own if need be. It's later model, BiggerDog, added a powerful servo arm allowing the robot to load and unlock itself, throw items, and attack. Said servo arm appears to serve as a head, but the truth is neither model has a head and sensors exist in all directions on the main body.
BigDog and BiggerDog both constantly emit a low rumble from their engines. They are both 3 ft long, 3 ft high, and 240 lbs. The BigDog has a carrying capacity of 533 lb. or less light load, 534-1,066 lb. medium load, and 1,067-1,600 lb. heavy loads. The BiggerDog has a carrying capacity of 666 lb. or less light load, 667-1333 lb. medium load, and 1334-2,000 lb. heavy load.
Combat[edit]
BigDog is not an offensive robot, and has no hands, but is capable of delivering powerful kicks with its legs in self defense.
The much more aggressive BiggerDog on the other hand has a powerful servo arm. Though it can use this to bludgeon with, it prefers to chuck rocks, stone, debris, or even pre-loaded throwing weapons at opponents.
Object Toss (Ex): The armed robotic mule is proficient in any object it throws, and may throw it with a range increment of 50 ft (thanks to it's Brutal Thrower bonus feat). It may throw and wield two-handed objects as if it had two hands, even though it only has one. Tiny objects (dagger sized) deal 1d4, small objects (longsword sized) deal 1d6, and medium objects (greatsword sized) deal 1d8.
Pack Mule (Ex): The robotic mule treats its effective Strength score as +8 higher (or Str 24) for the purposes of carrying capacity. The armed robotic mule's effective strength score is Str 28.
Super Sturdy (Ex): The robotic mule has the dwarf Sturdy racial feature, but gains a +12 bonus.
Programming: The robotic mule possesses the following programs: Reposition, Search, Self-Preservation.
The armed robotic mule possesses the following programs: Attack, Identify Creature, Identify Object, Reposition, Search, Self-Preservation.
Skills: The robotic mule gets a +10 racial bonus on Balance and Climb checks.
