1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.
Also called "short and light one-and-a-half sword", "short and light bastard sword", and even "true bastard sword" for its great versatility and strongly hybrid nature between one-handed sword and two-handed swords, the battlesword stays in-between the longsword and the bastard sword in both weight and lenght.
A battlesword is too large to use effectively in one hand without special training; thus, it is an exotic weapon. However, it's not as long and heavy a bastard sword, so a character with 12 of strenght (instead of 13) can get the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat for a battlesword suited for him. A character without the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat can use a battlesword two-handed as a martial weapon, or one-handed with a penalty of -2.
A character without the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat can use a battlesword two-handed as a martial weapon and one-handed with a -2 penalty (instead of -4 of the standard Bastard Sword) to attack rolls, thanks to the relative handy nature of of the weapon (the same reduction from a -4 to a -2 penalty to attack rolls and the lack of a minimum of 13 Strenght for a one-handed wielding are common characteristics of all the " light hand-and-a-half weapons".)
The battlesword counts as a longsword or as a bastard sword (but not as these two last weapons together) for the purpose of any of the following feats: Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization, Improved Critical, Weapon Focus, and Weapon Specialization: if a character has any of these feats both on the longsword and on the bastard sword, the bonuses of the feats from the two last weapons don't stack within the battlesword.
