Adversarialist[edit]
“ | You may call me an agent of Chaos, but know that order and disorder are just means to an end! | ” |
—Unknown Human Adversarialist |
There is always the need for an opposer, an enemy, an adversary to fight. They provide struggle, from which humanity evolve as whole. They provide the strife needed to tear down the old institutions which hold society back. Progress cannot be made without bloodshed, literal or figurative, and the Adversarialist provide struggle, strife and the means to direct the future how they see fit. The adversarialist philosophy hold that the strong inherit the future while the meek kneel or die. They hold that struggle is the crucible of improvement, both as individuals and as a society. They seek to cause strife, chaos, oppression as a mean to free humanity of it old order and allow them to move toward a brighter future. Ultimately even the Gods have to fall, and the adversarialist is happy to stand in their way.
The movement from which adversarialists spawn was created a by a Cleric who become discontent of her good-aligned patron, she grew tired of healing the weak and providing them shelters, and see them still dwell in their own misery the next day. She felt her energy wasted, her efforts in vain as she aided people. After a spat with her superiors she renounced the worship of her former patron and moved on to an evil deity of strength. However she was not content, her superiors were weak-willed people who used the power of the strong to stay in power and keep a stagnant balance of power. It became clear to her that she had to things her way and abandoned all worship.
Not all adversarialists believe in violent reformation, many prefer confronting and provoking the old institution and show the populace how easily pushed and displaced they are. They come in all alignments, although few of them are good-aligned. Adversarialists are opposed to the Gods and their followers, and many consider themselves free-thinkers with their own sense of ethics. They do not always agree between each other on which struggle is necessary and which is destructive, although they are usually capable of ignoring or solving any personal disagreements when working together.
