Home Brew Rule regarding an Arcane Focus: My wizard character began play with a +1 staff as his arcane focus, and he was eventually allowed to add powers to it, such as magic missles and a fireball, with 10 charges. The rule was, that any spell cast through this +1 magic item had its DC raised by a +1. This was logical and helpful, especially running a low-level wizard who tends to be targeted first before anyone else in the party.
