5e Spell Bone Puppet
Necromancy cantrip
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60ft
Components: V, S, M (A fragment of bone or a pinch of graveyard dirt.)
Duration: Concentration, Up to 1 minute
Casters: Cleric, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard

Upon casting the spell, one corporeal, inanimate corpse of your choice that you can see within range is clumsily reanimated just long enough to serve you. This spell cannot reanimate the corpse of a creature that has been dead more than 24 hours, and the corpse does not count as a creature while reanimated by this spell, nor does it possess any sentience or the ability to speak. The spell ends if you cast it again, or if another spellcaster reanimates the target corpse, be it with this spell or with another spell (Such as Danse Macabre).

At the end of your turn while animated in this fashion, the corpse stands up, and acts as you verbally command it, moving up to 30ft (Without provoking opportunity attacks) to a location you specify, and then performing one action you designate. The corpse can:

  • Dash (Increasing the distance it moves to a total of 60ft this round),
  • Help one creature you can see within 5ft of the corpse, or
  • Perform any simple task that requires very little cunning, guile, awareness, or manual dexterity (Such as lifting and carrying, pulling a lever, opening a door, triggering a pressure plate or tripwire, and etc.). The corpse performs all such tasks using a Strength score equal to your spellcasting ability score, and a Dexterity score of 7 (-2 Modifier).

Alternatively, you can command the corpse to use its action at the end of its movement to Attack, making a melee weapon attack against a target you can see within 5ft of the corpse. This attack is made with whatever weapon the corpse had when it was a living creature (Whether that be manufactured or natural weapons), and it uses your spell attack bonus in place of whatever bonus to attack rolls it had in life. On a successful hit, the corpse's attack deals additional Necrotic damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier.

Channel: Action; Required; Range. When channeled, you may command the corpse once more, causing the spell to last an additional round, up to the spell's full duration. Each time you channel this spell, you may issue a different command.

At Higher Levels. At 5th level, the Necrotic damage on a successful hit increases to 1d4 + your spellcasting modifier. This damage die increases from 1d4 to 1d8 at 11th level, and to 1d12 at 17th level.
