Ordinary victors write history. You go one step further, and rewrite all of history instead.
The touched corpse emanates an aura of censorship out to 1 mile per manifester level.
Creatures within the area do not hear or see any words which reference the touched creature. Affected words include names, titles, and pronouns. Pictures and visual depictions are smeared to the point of unrecognizability. Creatures who are immune to mind-affecting effects are immune to this effect. This effect only ends when a spell that can remove curses is cast directly on the corpse.
For example, if someone were to say "The previous king, Artragis the Third, was a lot better than this psychotic lich. He didn't even disembowel peasants for his own amusement. I'd go so far as to say that Artragis III was even benevolent at times," creatures in the area would hear it as "was a lot better than this psychotic lich. didn't even disembowel peasants for own amusement. I'd go so far as to say that was even benevolent at times." If written down, the same thing would happen. Old coins that used to have Artragis the Third on one side would now appear to have a vague profile where his portrait used to be.
Augment:
- You can spend any number of additional points to double the radius of the emanation for every 2 points spent. This does not follow D&D's multiplication rule.
- You can spend 3 additional power points to increase the duration to 1 week/level, or 6 additional power points to increase the duration to 10 years/level.
- You can spend 4 additional power points to have creatures in the area forget the name and appearance of the target while within the area, or 8 additional power points to have them forget the target entirely. They regain their memories as soon as they leave the area.
- You can spend 4 additional power points to have all references to the target be replaced with references to you instead of being obscured. If you augmented Victor's History to make creatures forget memories of name and appearance, they remember your name and appearance in those memories instead. Assuming you were Kratakis the Psychotic Lich, the example statement would become "The psychotic lich, Kratakis, was a lot better than this psychotic lich. It didn't even disembowel peasants for its own amusement. I'd go so far as to say that Kratakis was even benevolent at times"
