You have foreseen the best way to go about your task. Your next single skill check (if it is made before the end of the next round) is a natural 20.

Augment: For an additional 2 power points, the duration is extended another round and you can make another check a natural 20 before the power is discharged.

For an additional 4 power points you can apply this to a long duration skill, such as Craft checks, up to 1 day/level in duration.
