Gunwitch

A gunwitch is a spellcaster who is bound to a firearm, which they control with uncanny abilities. Unlike a standard witch, a gunwitch’s bond to her magic is more inherent, and while many make a pact with patrons; they often inherit their power within a bond firearm.

Class: Witch

Level: 1st-20th

Replaces: Spellcasting, Familiar, Hex (2nd, 6th)

Benefit: A gunwitch gains the following class features:

Armor & Weapon Proficiency: A gunwitch is proficient with all simple weapons, plus all firearms. Gunwitches are also proficient with light armor and shields (except tower shields). A gunwitch can cast witch spells while wearing light armor and using a shield without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, a gunwitch wearing medium or heavy armor incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component. A multiclass gunwitch still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes.

Spellcasting: A gunwitch is a spontaneous arcane spellcaster. She uses the sorcerer's spell per day and spell known. She automatically adds her patron spells to her spell known at the listed level under her patron. A holy witch regains her spells by communing with her patron through her bond firearm for 15 minutes after resting.

This ability alters spellcasting.

Gun Bond (Su): A 1st level gains the arcane bond class feature of a wizard to gain a bonded object. She must choose a firearm as her bonded object. At-will, the witch may remove the broken condition caused by a misfire on her bonded firearm as a standard action.

This ability replaces the witch's familiar.

Enchanted Shot (Su): At 2nd level a gunwitch gains Arcane Strike as a bonus feat. When using arcane strike with her bonded firearm, the gunwitch gains a bonus on attack roll equal to the bonus on damage roll granted by arcane strike.

This ability replaces the hex gained at 2nd level.

Imbue Bullet (Su): At 6th level, a gunwitch gains the ability to place an area spell upon an bullet she is about to fire. When the bullet is fired, the spell’s area is centered where the bullet lands, even if the spell could normally be centered only on the caster. This ability allows the archer to use the bow’s range rather than the spell’s range. A spell cast in this way uses its standard casting time and the arcane archer can fire the bullet as part of the casting. The bullet must be fired during the round that the casting is completed or the spell is wasted. If the bullet misses, the spell is wasted.

This ability replaces the hex gained at 6th level.
