Shadow Companion

Your animal companion is a shadowy construct from the shadow plane.

Class: Any class which grants an animal companion.

Level: Varies

Replaces: Your animal companion class feature changes.

Benefit: Your animal companion becomes a creature summoned from the Plane of Shadow. It does not normally exist and must be summoned onto the field adjacent to you as a standard action or dismissed as a free action (this is a supernatural ability). The companion has the following changes:

• It has all the normal statistics of a normal animal companion plus darkvision 60 ft (or improved darkvision by +30 ft). It takes +1 damage per spell level each round it is exposed to a magical [Light] effect.
• It is extraplanar outside of the Plane of Shadow and is counted as a summoned monster for spells and effects which interact with it.
• It retains damage over multiple summons, but is brought back to life and fully healed after 24 hours. The shadow companion can persist up to 2 minutes per class level (minimum 1 minute), and the time need not be consecutive.

If for some reason you have more than one animal companion, you can summon or dismiss all companions with the same standard action.
