Guardian Knight
A guardian knight is a cavalier who eschews the use of a mount and instead stands fast against any attackers. Often relying on heavy armor, the guardian knight makes quick work of those who try to slip past her. They typically stand as guards protecting castle gates, champions of their army, or undefeated footsmen on the battlefield.
Class: Cavalier
Level: 1st-20th
Replaces: Mount, Cavalier’s Charge, 8th-level Order ability, Mighty Charge, Supreme Charge
Benefit: A guardian knight receive the following class feature:
Valiant Fantassin (Ex): A guardian knight gains the Endurance feat as a bonus feat. Additionally, she counts as being astride her mount for the purpose of her order’s challenge bonus, order abilities and cavalier’s class feature while on foot.
This ability replaces mount.
Defensive Stance (Ex): At 4th level, a guardian knight gains the defensive stance ability, as a stalwart defender, and may select one defensive power at 8th level and every four levels thereafter. Levels of stalwart defender stack with her cavalier levels when determining the total number of rounds that she can maintain her defensive stance per day.
Armor Training (Ex): A 3rd level guardian knight gains the armor training class feature of a fighter of her cavalier level.
This ability replaces cavalier's charge
Defender's Strike (Ex): At 8th level, a guardian knight adds her Charisma bonus (minimum of +1) to as a bonus to the DC of her challenged opponent's acrobatics check made to pass by her without provoking an attack of opportunity for moving through spaces she threatens. Additionally she increases her reach against the target of her challenge by 5-ft.
This ability replaces the order's abilities gained at 8th level.
Vanguard's Step (Ex): At 11th level, a guardian knight can adjust her position while maintaining a defensive stance. While in a defensive stance, she can take one 5-foot step each round without losing the benefit of the stance.
This ability replaces mighty charge.
Armor Mastery (Ex): At 20th level, the guardian knight gains the fighter's armor mastery class feature.
This ability replaces supreme charge.
