''A twisted fusion of fowl and reptilian creature emerges from the shadows – the Cockatrice. A grotesque hybrid, its elongated body resembling a monstrous mix between a rooster and a serpent. Its neck, longer than a commonplace poultry but shorter than the regal ostrich, terminates in a sinister visage. A jet-black beak, the upper mandible protruding menacingly beyond the lower, exudes an air of predatory intent. Peering through the shadows, its eyes gleam with an otherworldly malice. Completing this nightmarish tableau, a long, filthy horn emerges from its head, curving downward in sinister harmony with the angle of its predatory beak.''

A Cockatrice is a highly aggressive and opportunistic omnivore. It's equally happy to eat a fruit fallen from a tree as it is to hunt a creature in its path. It stands approximately 2 feet tall at the shoulder, with his head reaching up just above 3 feet. Its body is about 4 feet long, not including its tail, which is additional 1.5 - 2 feet long.
=== Combat ===
In combat, a Cockatrice will attempt to use its Baleful Gaze to cause a target to lose an action while it closes the distance. First Then, after closing the distance, it will attack with its tail to poison a target and try to slow them down to make them easier to consume. If a target becomes more hassle than their worth, then it will employe its Beak Strike to attempt to turn them to stone.
=== Special Attacks ===
'''{{Anchor|Poison}}:''' When a target is successfully struck by a Cockatrice's tail attack it must make a DC 14 fortitude save or become poisoned. Initial damage is 1d2 constitution damage and causes fatigue. The secondary damage is 1d2 constitution damage and exhaustion.
'''{{Anchor|Baleful Gaze}}:''' As a full round action, a Cockatrice can use its gaze to cause a target to be stunned for 1d2 rounds. A DC 14 will save negates.A target that has been affected by a Cockatrice's Baleful Gaze cannot be affected by another Baleful Gaze again for 24 hours.
=== Overdrive ===
'''{{Anchor|Beak Strike}}:''' As a full-round action, a successful beak strike from a Cockatrice forces a target to make a DC 14 Fortitude save. On the first failure, approximately one-third of the target's body begins turning to stone. At the start of each subsequent round, the target makes a new Fortitude save and gains a +1 bonus on the save with each passing round. A successful save reverses 33% of the petrification, while a failure adds an additional 33%. The process continues until the victim either saves enough to revert the petrification to 0% or fails enough to reach 100%, resulting in permanent petrification. Multiple Beak Strikes do not stack.
