Invented by the technomancer Claire Loraine Watson as she found the Fatman MS-08 Power Armor too bulky and not aesthetically pleasing. The Ultra TA-01 Power Armor use a mix of heavy metal plating, powerful servomotors and ceramic to protect the wearer and allow him or her to carry large amount of weight.
The Ultra TA-01 Power Armor is by standard a suit of Hydraulic Plate, while it is bulky it was made to be well-fitted around the wearer's body and thus grant wearer slight build while in it, this stack with other iteration of slight build. The armor is made of a mix between ceramite and another material, usually steel or another special material, benefiting from both fully (the crafter must pay any additional cost for the additional special material). When inside the armor, the wearer gain the penalty of the EMP Vulnerable flaw with no bonus feat.
The armor require special training to operate, in order to be be trained properly you need to have heavy armor proficiency and either 10 ranks in Knowledge (Engineering) or Exotic Armor Proficiency. If a creature meet the prerequisite it can be trained with a 8 hours crash course, after which the user can use the armor properly.
Even with proper training, very few could move in such a suit, however it can be powered as a swift action. When powered a properly trained user reduce the armor check penalty by 25 (usually to -5). When powered the armor carry itself and increase the user's Strength to 25, unless it would normally be higher. A untrained creature do not gain any bonus from the armor being powered.
The armor is completely airtight as long as the helmet is worn, granting the same protection as a heavy pressure suit. The life support system is based on the secondary core which run essentially forever even when the armor is unpowered. The helmet is statistically a great helm and when the suit is powered it also grant darkvision 120 ft., superior low-light vision and heat vision, each toggable as a free action and require no action to maintain. As per Watson's design the armor's feet are also equipped with rocket boots (except the added weight and bulk cut the distance traveled by half), requiring it own supply of F.U.E.L.
The Ultra TA-01 Power Armor require at least two fusion cells, one for the primary and secondary core. Once powered the armor can last essentially indefinitely.
The suit must be properly fitted for any particular wearer, which take 6 hours of work. The Ultra TA-01 Power Armor is designed for medium creature only, the cost of making a larger armor would be monumental, this restriction is based on the wearer' actual size, not counting any effect which alter it such as slight build.
Despite being technological, the Ultra TA-01 Power Armor is crafted like a magic item.
Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Fabricate.
Cost to Create: 12,500 gp, 1,000 EXP, 12 days.
Other Models[edit]
The TA-01 is but the original prototype made by Dr. Watson, she also developed multiple variant and upgrade to the original suit. Use the statistic of the TA-01 for these variant suit unless noted otherwise.
TA-01a "Jumpman": This suit is equipped with a shielded jetpack (which mean it can't be attacked) which run on the same supply of F.U.E.L as the rocket boots. The combined tanks can hold up to 30 once of F.U.E.L. The secondary core also supply some energy to both system, reducing consumption of F.U.E.L by half. Price Adjustment: +13,000 gp
TA-01b "Stripped Down": This model had lots of redundant armor removed and instead replaced by lightweight plates, allowing soldiers to carry more equipment in battle. Reduce the AC bonus granted by the TA-01 by -2, the weight by 200 lbs, decrease the armor check penalty by 4 and when powered the armor triple the wearer's carrying capacity. Price Adjustment: +0 gp
