Bloodbinder

A rare breed of occultists, bloodbinders are practitioners of sorcery. Instead of drawing power from the occult resonant energy of arcane curiosities, they instead bind the power in the veins. Through the use of sigils, tattoos or other even more esoteric methods they are able to fully draw upon their heritage.

Class: Occultist

Level: 1st

Replaces: Spellcasting, Implement, Focus Power, Outside Contact

Benefit: A bloodbinder gain access to the following class features:

Armor and Weapon Proficiency: A bloodbinder A bard is proficient with all simple and martial weapons. Bloodbinders are also proficient with light armor and shields (except tower shields). A bloodbinder can cast occultist spells while wearing light armor and using a shield without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, a bloodbinder wearing medium or heavy armor incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component. A multiclass bloodbinder still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes.

Spellcasting: A bloodbinder's spells are considered arcane spells, not psychic spells, and her spells use verbal and somatic components instead of thought and emotion components.

This alters the occultist’s spells.

Cantrips: Each time she selects an implement school, a bloodbinder gains one cantrip, or 0-level arcane spell (including when he selects a school that he has already learned to use). These cantrips otherwise behave as an occultist’s knacks.

This ability replaces knacks.

Power of Bloodlines: A bloodbinder bases off all of her occultist class features, including those from archetype, off her Charisma rather than her Intelligence. This includes her spellcasting, how many mental focus she has, the DCs of her implement, etc.

Blood Implements: Rather than investing her mental focus in magical objects and occult curiosity, the bloodbinder brings forth her by binding her own supernatural bloodline. As a result her implements are part of her body, and cannot be removed from her, or passed to allies. The bloodbinder may still select panoply, simply requiring the correct implement school rather than a specific object.

A bloodbinder starts with only a single implement at 1st level, and chooses a single sorcerer bloodline. She gain access to that spell's bloodline arcana and add the bloodline spells to her spell known at the listed level: She gain the 3rd level bloodline spell at 1st level, the 5th level bloodline spell at 4th level, the 7th level bloodline spell at 7th level, the 9th level bloodline spell at 10th level, the 11th level bloodline spell at 13th level and the 13th level bloodline spell at 16th level.

Instead of picking a focus power, a bloodbinder may select a focus power associated with her bloodline. She must meet the minimum level requirement of the bloodline power to select it, using her occultist level.

This ability alters implement, but isn't incompatible with other archetypes which alters implement unless it also alters their form (such as the battle host, reliquarian or the silksworn).

Powerful Binding (Ex): As long as an 8th level bloodbinder has at least 3 or more points of mental focus invested in an implement school, all occultist spells of that school that she cast of that school has its saving throw DC increases by 1. At 16th level, if the bloodbinder has invested at least 5 points, then the spell’s saving throw DC increases by 2 instead..

This ability replaces outside contact.

Bloodline Ascendant: At 20th level, a bloodbinder gain her chosen bloodline's 20th level bloodline power.

This ability replaces implement mastery
