Talk:Healing (3.5e Cleric Domain)
Alternate Setup[edit]
After kicking it around for a while, I don't think I like the whole idea of a healing domain. I know you want priests to pay some form of cost to gain access to "real" healing, but I'm not actually sure why that's the case. I didn't give them access to the heal skill in ToP because it was expected that they'd have magic to cover that particular base. They don't have access to any of the "mass" versions except with this domain (which only grants one), and that's sorta weird since they have access to all of the base spells already. The resto line also covers things that priests were once able to deal with, but that's largely restricted now too.
So I'm going to propose that the domain be renamed to "recovery" and be more about condition counters than healing. That would entail porting heal, the resto lines, and the mass cure spells back into the priest class (and maybe true res, not sure about that one). That leaves a lot of holes here, but these can be filled with Remove Affliction (priest 3, removes 1 effect per level from the remove lines + confusion and other stuff in close range), regenerate at 4 (it's only in the slime domain otherwise), and revivify at 5. I'm not actually sure what to put at the higher levels in such a setup, though mass resto/greater resto might work for a couple of holes. Was going to save higher level suggestions and serious pondering for your take on that sort of arrangement. - Tarkisflux Talk 05:00, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
