Designer Note: Exotic Weapon[edit]

This is an attempt to make an exotic weapon with a rather average baseline. Instead of relying on sheer numbers, the guardsword is granted power through a number of miscellaneous bonuses. It is effectively a slightly different longsword that can: deal non-lethal damage, grant a shield bonus, can disarm and sunder better, is resistant to sunder and can deal two damage types. But is it enough warrant it status as an exotic weapon?--Leziad (talk) 18:40, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

I think it's fine as an exotic weapon. If you'd like, you could add a feature that makes it count as a shield for the purpose of feats, features and specific maneuvers. But maybe you would like to scale down some of the existing bonuses. --The bluez in the dungeon (talk) 05:29, 6 July 2023 (UTC)

It's a fine and interesting weapon; being this weapon somehow close to a Bastard Sword with it's 1d8 x3; I would suggest to reduce the weight to 5 lbs and to apply the benefits of my "Short Bastard Sword" in the following temrms, for example: the Guardsword counts as a Longsword or as a Bastard sword (but not as these two last weapons together) for the purpose of any of the following feats: Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization, Improved Critical, Weapon Focus, and Weapon Specialization: if a character has any of these feats both on the Longsword and on the Bastard sword, the bonuses of the feats from the two last weapons are not cumulative within the Guardsword.

By the way, somebody could help me to change the name of my weapon's page from "Short bastard sword" to "Battlesword"? Thank you very much.

Please help me to edit my page "Teutonic Estoc":)

You could change the name by moving the page. Use the "more" button, then "Move" and just type the new name of the weapon. --The bluez in the dungeon (talk) 23:44, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
