The main plot of Episode III wasn't about how Healing was a Dark Side power. Healing is very much a Light Side power, used a lot by Jedi Healers and/or Sages. Just because one Darth figured out a way to manipulate tinyspacegodpowergivinglifeforms doesn't mean it's a Dark Side power. --TK-Squared 08:21, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Plus I figured it was less healing and more "undeath" flavored. Ok, he wasn't a lich but Palpatine was the closest thing to it; unnatural extension of one's life using dark and spooky means. "I can keep someone alive" could mean you heal them, or you keep them in a state of undyingness. -- Eiji-kun 08:26, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Palpatine didn't know how to extend life. He was only about 60 years old at the beginning of the third movie. He was totally hardcore lying to Anakin. --TK-Squared 10:02, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Are you claiming that healing was ever spoken of in any of the movies by someone other than Palpatine or Anakin? Also, if it was really necromantic, he could have brought his wife back after the fact. --Foxwarrior 17:20, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

While not complete renewal, the ghostly forms brought back the mind in the first set. All of which were jedi at one time. It also could be argued that yoda possessed some life extending abilities (the degree of which is unknown due to his species not having a mentioned max age).

For a lie of such pivotal nature to be created, Palpatine would know that at least some truth would have to be put into the brew. Perhapes he did not want to bring her back. Knowing that an ability exists, does not mean one can use it – or even has access to learning how to use it – he only mentioned it could be done.

Saying "no-one else said it in the movies" does not equate to "IT'S DARK SIDE ONLY OMGOMGOMG". Like... that's a really shitty argument. Especially due to the fact that Palpatine was never taught Plagueis' healing abilities. The force powers that Darth Plagueis knew regarding healing and manipulating life were not necromatic, but rather they were geared towards manipulating tinyspacegodpowergivinglifeforms in order to do healing feats. While the Dark Side has some healing abilities in general, it is the Light Side that has the bulk of Force Healing. Revenge of the Sith wasn't about healing, it was about Sideous' manipulation of Anakin and Sideous' grand overarching plan to get the Chosen One as his disciple.

Just for emphasis: no-one in the prequels could bring anyone back absolutely from the dead because the only one capable of that is dead. Sideous killed him. To death. Force Ghost is much different. --TK-Squared 17:53, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
