| Since immunity to fear is totally possible, I'm not worried about the whole "you saved against the spell, but you still lose" effect of cowering for a round.
Exploding everyone around you into a massive bloody mess is just a wonderful 8th level! Flavorful and fits the 8th level range well. |

This might be a bit over the top. It's a mass SoD, which is fine since Finger is a 7, but it hits a lot of targets. I'm not sure if it's too many or not though.
The fear rider on the back is also bizarre. It's not a magically enhanced or forced sort of scary thing, it's just a really creepy one. Fear effects should be reserved for magical fear stuff, not forcing characters to react to an otherwise non-fear event in a particular way. People get covered in monster goop all the time, why would seeing your friend explode into a thin/thick red mist make them cower instead of really mad? It's not like you don't have a body to work with to bring them back. If you want an effect on save, grab some damage or some nausea. - Would making it a magically-forced fear thing OK? In terms of mass of targets, 20ft radius burst isn't that large an area, but I can reduce it to 10ft-radius if you prefer. - MisterSinister 22:59, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I got over the targets a while after I wrote that. Most of them will take up a few squares at this level anyway.
- While you could make it a magically forced fear thing, I think it changes the fluff in ways that might not be palatable. It basically turns it into a "you scare the blood right out of a person" necromancy spell. I don't know if that's ok or not, but it's more consistent with a successful save leaving you scared witless. - Tarkisflux Talk 07:31, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
