1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

Yes it deserves its name.

This massive bow was designed not to fire arrows, but to fire spears. Merely pulling the string is a herculean task by itself and only a character with a Strength of 20 or more can fire the bow without penalty, for every 2 points of Strength below 20 the range of the bow halves and all attacks made with it take a cumulative -2 penalty. The Spear-Thrower Greatbow must be anchored to the ground or wall by the large spike at its base in order to provide the leverage to draw the string and fire accurately, making it impossible to use on horseback and while flying.

In the hand of a proficient creatures, the Spear-Thrower Greatbow can be used to make Power Attack (assuming you possess the feat), and its wielder may use her Strength score instead of Dexterity score for attack and damage. Whenever you strike a creature with a Spear-Thrower Greatbow you may also attempt a Bull Rush at range and you do not move with your opponents if you succeed. Finally after you successful bull rush a creature if it traveled at least 15 feet it is made prone, or only 5 ft if you possess the Improved Bull Rush feat.

Finally a proficient wielder may as an attack action make an impaling attack. Instead of making a normal attack roll, the bow fires as a line that extends out to half of your first range increment. Every creature within the line is allowed a Reflex DC 10 + 1/2 BAB + attack modifier to negate the damage.
