Selective Spell [Metamagic] Benefit: This metamagic can be applied to any area of effect spell, or any spell that has multiple targets not individually chosen by the caster. The caster may then designate a basic physical description, and only creatures or objects satisfying that description are affected by the spell effect. This description can be as general or specific as possible, and may incorporate race, gender, weight, clothing, etc, so long as the criteria is apparent enough that it could be determined by a quick inspection or a rough search and doesn't involve non-physical attributes (like religion) or metagame concepts (like Class). Those who do not match the description are not subject to the spell. A Selective Spell takes up a spell slot two levels higher than the original. Special: The caster may expend a spell slot containing a detect spell, like detect magic or detect evil, to incorporate the information that would be revealed by such a spell into their criteria as part of the casting of a selective spell.
