'''{{Anchor|Transmogrify}} {{Su}}:''' The titular ability of the transmogrifier, it is the ability to transform oneself into a multitude of different forms.  It starts out very basic with simple visual changes for limited amounts of time, but eventually becomes the ability to be in any form of any creature you know about.  A transmogrifier can use his transmogrify ability up to 2 hours per class level per day.  This time need not be consecutive, but adopting a new form uses 1 hour of time transformed minimum.  Transmogrifying is a standard action and comes in several steps of power.

''{{Anchor|Least Shapes}} {{Su}}:'' A 4th level transmogrifier finally unlocks the ability to truly shapeshift into other forms.  The transmogrifier can learn to transform into any creature of any type except for creatures with the Incorporeal or Swarm subtypes, or any creature formed by a template.  They can only transform into them if the creature's CR equals their character level -2 (minimum CR 1) and they are limited to creatures of small and medium size.  As they level, they unlock new and different sizes.

The transmogrifier counts as the type and subtype of his original form.  He gains the size of its new form, and the aquatic subtype of his new form when applicable.  He retains his own HD, BAB, hit points (as based on his original [[Con]] score), base saving throws, skills, feats, alignment, and mindset  He loses its natural weapons, natural armor, and movement modes of its original form, its traits (such as an Undead transmogrifier's undead immunities), as well as any extraordinary special attacks of its original form not derived from class levels (such as the barbarian’s rage class feature).  

The transmogrifier gains the physical and mental ability scores of the new form, supernatural abilities, and extraordinary abilities.  They do not gain any inherent spellcasting of the creature.  If the creature has spell-like abilities they may be used, but a transmogrifier can only use the spell-like abilities of their transformed states once per class level, regardless how many times they shift into different forms in addition to the limitations the form itself may have.  For example, a level 8 transmogrifier turned into a [[SRD:Bralani|Bralani]] can cast 8 spell-like abilities a day of any kind, but is still limited to the Bralani's 2/day limit of ''[[SRD:Lightning Bolt|lightning bolt]]'' until they shift into a different Bralani.  In addition they can only use spell-like abilities whose level is 1/2 their character level (rounded up, minimum 1).  For example, the 8th level transmogrifier could not cast ''[[SRD:Wish|wish]]'' as a spell-like ability until level 17.  Unlike normal spell-like abilities you must still pay any expensive material or XP components.

The creature retains any spellcasting ability it had in its original form, although it must be able to speak intelligibly to cast spells with verbal components and it must have humanlike hands to cast spells with somatic components.  The transmogrifier may lose the ability to speak in transformed form; most animals do not possess the vocal cords to make humanoid sounds.  The creature is effectively camouflaged as a creature of its new form, and it gains a +10 bonus on Disguise checks if it uses this ability to create a disguise.  Any gear worn or carried by the creature that can’t be worn or carried in its new form either falls to the ground in its space, or is absorbed.  Absorbed items have their abilities suppressed.  If the creature changes size, any gear it wears or carries that can be worn or carried in its new form changes size to match the new size. (Nonhumanoid-shaped creatures can’t wear armor designed for humanoid-shaped creatures, and vice versa.) Gear returns to normal size if dropped.

To transform into a creature, one must know of the creature.  A successful Knowledge check must be made to learn about a creature.  While a transmogrifier can learn a potentially unlimited number of creatures and their forms, they can only remember so many forms at one time.  They can spontaneously change into up to 2 + 1/2 their class level in different forms before they must rest 8 hours to forget their forms.  For example, a 5th level transmogrifier can shift into 5 different forms (eagle, rat, fish, bat, and cat), but then could not transform into a bear, only into the five forms they have used that day.

This ability counts as wildshape for the purpose of pre-requisites.
