|reason=I understand the trepidation with regards to Temporary Hit Points when it comes to a cantrip, and also dealing damage at the same time. After all {{SRD5|False Life}} is one of the first Temp HP things that we find and it gives 1d4+4 (6?) as a base.

I originally had this as Like, but then I realised that the spell that we can compare this against is {{SRD5|Vicious Mockery}} which deals 1d4 Psychic Damage. The thing that's making this spell feel better to me is the fact it's a touch spell. I'm unsure. Will probably revisit this rating.

I really like the fact that we're using Proficiency Bonus in place of a flat static number though.

With the change to dealing a d4 in damage die, and still keeping the proficiency bonus (which scales like good cantrips) for the temp hit points, I can say that I enjoy this.

On Balance[edit]

At first glance the spell seems to be overpowered for a cantrip. Both damaging an enemy and giving temporary hit points to the caster. However...

  • The damage is low (d6)
  • Temporary Hit Points do not stack. So you cannot build up a huge reserve of temporary hit points.

Responses to Ratings[edit]

To Vaegrim — Thank you for your response and rating. Initially, I had it increase further at higher levels. I removed that. I considered starting with reach, but thought that it was too much for a cantrip at 1st level. This was the compromise. Compare it to Chill Touch that does more damage at a 120 ft. range. Again, thank you for taking the time to look at the spell. --Rlyehable (talk) 18:23, 23 April 2019 (MDT)

I have updated the spell to simplify and reduce damage. --Rlyehable (talk) 09:28, 14 June 2019 (MDT)
