Rhavaegrim Disciple

Her blade was like the wind, unseen and swift, but left her opponents in pieces in her wake.
—Unknown Soldier, About the wielders of the Rhavaegrim.

The Rhavaegrim is noted to be a legendary sword capable of slicing so quickly that its cuts were mistaken for the wind. The weapon was said to leave utterly no chance to those standing against it, cutting down the greatest foe in seconds. While the sword was forever lost, some attempts to imitate its power, even if it’s just for a few moments.

Rhavaegrim disciples are individuals who studied the tales of the original blade and have developed techniques to imitate its power. The training required to become a rhavaegrim disciple is intense, requiring hard work and perseverance, as well as flawless mastery of the blade. However those who do manage to tap into the power of the legendary blade are capable of turning their weapon into a rhavaegrim of their own, slicing their enemies apart like the wind.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the rhavaegrim disciple.

Rhavaegrim: A rhavaegrim disciple must select a single weapon to become her rhavaegrim, the focus of her class features. The weapon must be one that the rhavaegrim disciple has Weapon Specialization feat in, and must be a light or one-handed slashing weapon or a weapon on the light or heavy blades weapon group (or pathfinder version) list .In addition to the benefits granted by wind blade stance, the rhavaegrim disciple can always use her rhavaegrim with the Weapon Finesse feat, as if it was a light weapon sized for you.

Once a rhavaegrim is chosen, it can only be changed through attuning to another qualifying weapon, which takes 24 hours and can be done at most once a week. Most class features of the rhavaegrim disciple require the Rhavaegrim to be used.

Some GM may allow alternative weapons to be made into a rhavaegrim, such as a rapier or a hammer.

Superior Finesse (Ex): Whenever a rhavaegrim disciple uses Weapon Finesse to attack with her Dexterity instead of her Strength on attack roll, she may also use her Dexterity instead of Strength on damage roll.

Wind Blade Stance (Su): The most important ability of the rhavaegrim disciple is to turn her ‘blade to wind’, either figuratively or literally. As a free action at the start of her turn, the rhavaegrim disciple can activate her wind blade stance. In this stance her sword becomes ‘like the wind’, moving so fast it is but a blur. This allows her to make an extra attack at her highest base attack bonus with her rhavaegrim when making a full-attack action. If she makes only a single melee attack with her rhavaegrim , then she may roll twice and take the better result.Additionally, while in wind blade stance, whenever the rhavaegrim disciple uses a full-attack action to make multiple melee attacks with her rhavaegrim against a single opponent, she totals the damage from all hits before applying damage reduction.

This extra attack stacks with any other bonus attack, such as from the speed enhancement, but not with the extra attack granted by the haste spell. As she gains more levels in rhavaegrim disciple, the power of her wind blade stance increases.

The rhavaegrim disciple can maintain her wind blade stance for a number of rounds equal to twice her class level. These rounds do not need to be consecutive. Additionally she can enter a state of focus to use her wind blade stance without expending any uses. As a standard action she can enter her wind blade stance until the end of her next turn.

Blademaster Training (Ex): A 2nd level rhavaegrim disciple counts her rhavaegrim disciple levels as effective fighter level for the purpose of qualifying for feats.

Pathfinder: Additionally the rhavaegrim disciple chooses a single class that grants her effective fighter level, she counts her rhavaegrim disciple level as levels of the chosen class for the purpose of advancing those class features: Armor training, challenge, order, swashbuckler deeds, weapon training.

Wind Blade Technique: At 2nd level and each even level thereafter, the rhavaegrim disciple gains a powerful technique she can use alongside with her rhavaegrim. Unless specified otherwise, all wind blade technique only functions while she maintains her wind blade stance.

Avalanche of Swords (Ex): A rhavaegrim disciple with this technique can sweep many opponents with a single strike, like a grim wind of death. Whenever the rhavaegrim disciple makes a melee attack with her rhavaegrim, she may select up to two squares within her reach that are adjacent to the creature that she is currently attacking. Her attack applies to any creatures also occupying those squares, using the same attack and damage roll as the original target. Critical hits must be confirmed individually.

Hurricane Dash (Su): As a standard action, the rhavaegrim disciple may replicate the effect of the greater bladed dash feat. She may only make an attack with her rhavaegrim during this dash.

Invisible Wind (Su): Upon learning this technique, the rhavaegrim disciple’s blade becomes so quick that it cannot be guarded against. The first melee attack she make against a creature with her rhavaegrim in a round counts as being made by an invisible creature. The effect of see invisibly or true seeing does not protect against this ability. However the Blind-Fight feat and Uncanny Dodge class feature applies as normal.

Multistrike (Ex): rhavaegrim disciple with this technique relies more on attack speed than accuracy to strike her foes, making multiple strikes as a single strike. When she makes a melee attack with her rhavaegrim against a foe benefiting from a miss chance she rolls twice, taking the better result. Additionally whenever she attacks a creature under the effect of mirror image or similar effect, each attack counts as two attacks for the purpose of the mirror image, but she can only hit the caster once. Effectively this allows her to roll twice, either destroying two images or hitting the caster and destroying an image. Against an opponent who benefits from no miss chance, and does not have any mirror image, you instead roll weapon damage twice, taking the better result.

Waterfowl’s Flurry (Ex): As a 1 round action, the rhavaegrim disciple may prepare a powerful flurry of slashes with her rhavaegrim. Upon the start of her next turn, she immediately moves up to her full speed and makes a full-attack with her rhavaegrim. Upon finishing that full-attack she immediately repeats the process. Using Waterfowl’s Flurry leaves the rhavaegrim disciple exhausted for 1 round, and cannot be used until at least 1d4 rounds have elapsed. A rhavaegrim disciple must be 8th level or higher to learn this technique.

Wind Swirls (Su): Whenever a rhavaegrim disciple with this technique makes a melee attack with her, she may leave a small dust devil in its wake. The dust devil acts as strong wind a 10-ft area centered on a grid intersection in the targeted opponent's space within the rhavaegrim disciple’s reach, which lasts until the end of your next turn. On any rounds where the rhavaegrim disciple has made a full-attack, she is affected as per fickle winds until the start of her next turn.

Bonus Feat: At 3rd and 9th level, the rhavaegrim disciple gains a bonus feat. These bonus feats must be drawn from the feats noted as fighter bonus feats. A rhavaegrim disciple must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums.

Incredible Alaricity (Ex): A 5th level rhavaegrim disciple is able to wield her rhavaegrim with such grace that she seems to merely walk as blades of wind appear around and beside her. While maintaining her wind stance, the rhavaegrim disciple can make a full-attack action with her rhavaegrim as a standard action.

Swift Deflection (Ex): The rhavaegrim disciple is able to deflect incoming attacks with ease. As long as she has a weapon drawn, she gains a +1 shield bonus to her AC.The rhavaegrim disciple loses this bonus if she is denied her Dexterity bonus to AC.

At 7th level this bonus increases to +2. If the rhavaegrim disciple is in her wind blade stance, then the bonus granted by this ability doubles.

Wind Blade Master (Ex): A 10th level rhavaegrim disciple learns a wind blade technique as normal. Additionally while in her wind blade stance, the rhavaegrim disciple may stop time as per the time stop spell for 1 round as a standard action by expending 1 additional round of usage.
