Appearing as gnarled wood with disturbing black veins within, it carries a fragment of the grand curse of its ancient land.

Cursewood weapons have the properties of wood and carry a portion of the curse on impact.  Weapons apply a -2 penalty to either attack, AC, or saves chosen on a successful hit which lasts for 1 round.  A creature can only be afflicted by one curse per round regardless how many times they are hit.  If the attack is a natural 20, the target is subjected to ''[[SRD:Bestow Curse|bestow curse]]'' ([[Will]] DC 10 + 1/2 HD + ability modifier used for attacking), with its normal effect on a successful save.

Cursewood armor and shields retain the curse absorbing properties of its parent tree.  It provides a +4 bonus against curses and polymorph effects, and the creature is allowed another save every hour to revert a curse or the effects of polymorphing into a new form, such as becoming petrified.

Small totems can be made of cursewood, duplicating the effects the trees possessed on a small scale.  These totems weigh 5 lbs and can be used to cure one curse as if ''[[SRD:Remove Curse|remove curse]]'' was cast (caster level equal to the user's HD).  It can also revert polymorphing effects if the victim would be willing as per ''[[SRD:Greater Dispel Magic|greater dispel magic]]''.  These items are one use, and are usually buried afterwards lest they generate some manner of monster or fiend over the course of a month.  If this occurs, the monster often has a CR equal to the caster level of the effect that was absorbed.

Cursewood needs special preparation, so all weapons and armor made from it are always of masterwork quality; the masterwork cost is included in the prices given below. Thus, cursewood weapons and ammunition have a +1 enhancement bonus on attack rolls.

Cursewood has 10 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 5.  It takes full damage from mundane acid and fire, quarters electric damage, and halves all other damage.
