Homebrew Languages

As in the previous chapter, you will find languages and tongues here, which are either from the wiki or from around the web. You are highly encouraged to add your own homebrew languages in the appropriate subsection, or those of others, if you have their consent to do so. If you have any trouble or just want to ask any question, use the talk page of this chapter.

Racial Tongues

Here are listed languages which are race specific, usually by linking to the race page.

  • Clickspeak: Language invented by the shirreci which consists of clicks and wirrs. It's useful to report simple and rapid messages. There's no written alphabet for Clickspeak and only creatures with insect-like mouth usually learn it, as other race must spend 2 skill points instead of 1 to learn it. It can be used for casting.
  • Divetongue: The racial language of natalupes and ludros, originally created for the natalupes. It's a language few can speak as it consists of growls and mutters. This language is made to be spoken underwater, and allows creatures that can't vocalize underwater to speak anyway. It hasn't a written form, but it may be used to cast magic underwater through the use of the Divetongue Casting feat.
  • Fossorial: Spoken by the fossors, it's more of a dialect of Gnome than its own language (it incorporates Terran words) and thus is easily understandable by anyone who speaks traditional Gnome. It can be used for casting.
  • Pulsespeak: A language spoken by nebulars through the use of pulsing lights that they produce on themselves. Due to the strange way it works, only creatures with some kind of body luminescence can naturally speak in this language, while others usually just learn to understand it. It is possibile, however, to use artificial or magical lights to imitate the "speaking" of this language, thus allowing most races to use it. Pulsespeak hasn't a written form, traditionally speaking, but "text" may be visualized and recorded with a series of pulsing lights, permanent or under activation. It doesn't allow the use of magic.
  • Rhinastal: Spoken by the rhinastals, it's more of a dialect of Giant than its own language and thus is easily understandable by anyone who speaks traditional Giant. It can be used for casting.

Special Languages

Here are listed languages which are not specifically tied to a race.

  • Aklo: Said to be a crude attempt at understanding the foreboding haunting wails from beings beyond the veil of reality, and as such it is normally written in Common. It can be used for casting.
  • Anarch: This "language" is actually a translation tool to help convert Slaadi, Protean, and whatever made up language the mad members of the chaos plans have made up, and converted into a language technically decipherable by others. It can be used for casting.
  • Axial: A logical and artificial language, blending together celestial, infernal, and complex equations and grammar rules. It can be used for casting.
  • Necril: An ancient language often spoken by undead, and associated with necromancy and the dark arts. It can be used for casting.
  • Umbral: A spooky sounding language, its spoken by the things lurking within the Shadow Plane. It can be used for casting.

Non-Verbal Languages

Here are listed languages that use non-verbal, nor written communication.

  • Body Language: A special form of communication that involves subtle movements of the body and facial expressions. It may not be used for casting.

Written Languages

Here are listed languages that are exclusively written.

  • Razuglyph: Used by the stercules, the Razuglyph is a sacred alphabet taught to them by Razur itself. It is only used for the practice of azure sorcery, for holy texts or administrative ones. If the need of reading aloud arise, each language has a spoken translation for Razuglyph.
