Shield Bashing. [General, Fighter, Combat] Learn how to bash better with your shield.Prerequisites: Proficient in shields. Benefits: This is a combat feat that scales with your Base Attack Bonus.
- +0: The player can bash with shields, this includes buckler and tower, bucklers deal 1d2, tower shields 1d8, both have a 2x mulitplier for criticals, and a critical range of 19-20, You can bash an opponent with a shield, using it as an off-hand weapon. See Table: Weapons for the damage dealt by a shield bash. Used this way, a shield is a martial bludgeoning weapon. For the purpose of penalties on attack rolls, treat a shield as a one-handed weapon. If you use your shield as a weapon, you lose its AC bonus until your next action (usually until the next round). An enhancement bonus on a shield does not improve the effectiveness of a shield bash made with it, but the shield can be made into a magic weapon in its own right.
- +1: Tower shields no longer cause attack penalties; additionally you deal your full strength bonus when bashing with any shield instead of 1/2. Also, you no longer lose your ac bonus when bashing with a shield.
- +6: When bashing someone with a shield, the target must make a dc 15 fort save + your strength modifier or dexterity modifier (whichever is higher) or be knocked back 5 feet. You can only use one of the bash abilities at a time. In addition, spikes can now be added to bucklers and tower shields; spiked bucklers do 1d3 and tower 1d8.
- +11: Targets that are bashed now need to make a dc 15 fort save + your strength modifier or dexterity (whichever is higher) or be knocked prone. You can only use one of the bash abilities at a time.
- +16: When bashing a target, the target must now make a dc 15 fort save + your strength modifier or dexterity (whichever is higher) or be stunned for a time based on the shield type. You can only use one of the bash abilities at a time.
