Trishna is the rotund god of earthly delights and excess. He is the desire to enjoy oneself, and the hunger when denied the bounties of the world.

Origin

None really know the origins of this god of revelry, and few care to ask. Sometimes hero, sometimes villain, Trishna is a being of excess and wealth. While often seen as a vice to those outside of followers, there is rumor of another purpose hidden within Trishna's origins.

It is said that the current form of the universe, a material universe, was an accident created from a mistake from a great cosmic being when they were forging the heavens. Though an error, the gods saw life spring upon the material and took pity, granting them boons like light, fire, health, and sapience, but this was but a bandaid on a wound in creation. This material world was not "true", a lie preventing them from witnessing heaven. While one could reject "reality" and find the truth behind it, this was a difficult task and so many souls were trapped in eternal limbo of birth and rebirth in the material. Many gods tried to enlighten, but a being known as Trishna took another stance.

The problem was that the desires of the world always drew the souls back to the material. The need for desire, it was almost impossible to ignore. But could it be sated? While also difficult, it was possible that by indulging in one's desires to the point where the amazing became boring, one could naturally let go of their needs and drift from the material to rejoin the gods in heaven. If anything, it was success through overdose. And so Trishna adopted the form of a god of greed and excess, in hopes that one day the souls in his palace would fade beyond the bounties granted to them and see how small and useless it really was.

But since none can confirm it, debate rages to this day if this is simply a hedonistic deity, or benevolence in disguise.

Description

Trishna is a massive and obese gold or pink hued humanoid, with a elephant head with three faces, four great arms (and sometimes more), and round belly. He is often depicted as sitting, a bowl of food in one hand, a bag of gold in another, and a parasol above to shield him from the sun. He sits on a mandala of riches and many pleasures are granted by him. He is also the desire to obtain pleasure when denied, and in his more sinister appearances he acts as a deity of hunger and need.

Dogma

Trishna desires his followers abandon aestheticism and embrace material pleasures to their fullest. Good followers do so and share with others, neutral followers keep to themselves, and evil followers indulge at the expense of others. There is no shame in overindulgent behavior, though he leans slightly good and discourages acts which bring more suffering than joy as a whole. Life is short, live it up.

Clergy and Temples

The temples of Trishna are less places of worship and more rowdy bars. Their clerics seem common rabble, or troublemakers. As a result, Trishna priests are not well respected, but Trishna does not ask for fancy churches and complex rituals to please him. Why, he's not even there to enjoy them, he's too busy relaxing in a tub full of chocolate on his personal sphere in Limbo, the Palace of Chandra. The place is said to be a heavenly delight made manifest, and in constant movement around the planetoid it resides as part of the planet is in eternal decay while the other have grows all manner of new joys.
