When activated the tip of the rod opens up like a claw and releases a glowing green arcane circle, with spider-web like patterns. When passed through, it is as if you passed through a soft pillow.

While this rod can be wielded as a masterwork Heavy Mace that can only deal non-lethal damage due to its inertial damping properties. Within the rod are 6 charges, and with a standard action and a single charge a magical net may be released covering as small as a 5 ft diameter circle, to as large as a 15 ft radius circle in any orientation out to a range of 2000 ft. Creatures passing through the plane treat it as passing through difficult terrain. Physical projectiles take a -6 penalty to attack and only deal non-lethal damage. Creatures in freefall are reduced to safe velocities, so if placed below 10 ft it can act as a cushion to a long fall. Unusually large objects, vehicles, and similar objects moving along with momentum which fit within the circle have their speed cut in half for each circle they pass. The sudden slowdown is absorbed by the circle, so passengers do not get a sudden jolt.

You can deploy a series of nets in a line up to its maximum distance with the same standard action, expending multiple charges in the process.

The rod may be used as an immediate action to save a falling wielder, but this consumes 2 charges per net. It can be used as a ready action to attempt to counter incoming ranged attacks.

The nets persist for 24 hours, until recalled as a free action, or a 1 round after creature or object passes through the net, breaking it. Either way the charge remains expended. All charges refresh after 24 hours.

Prerequisites: Craft Rod, feather fall.
