Mineralscale dragons may awaken their weakened draconic essence and obtain the missing draconic traits they lack.

Abilities: As a dragon, you excel at Strength and Constitution, and benefit from a strong Charisma for spellcasting.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Mineralscale Dragon Paragon.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Mineralscale Dragon Paragon gain no new proficiency.

Spellcasting: At each level, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in a spontaneous arcane spellcasting class to which you belonged before adding the prestige class level. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one spontaneous arcane spellcasting class before becoming a mineralscale dragon paragon, you must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day, caster level, and spells known.

Breath Weapon (Su): The mineralscale dragon obtains their breath weapon. Choose an element from acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic. You gain a breath weapon that deals 1d4 damage of that type per level in either a line (10 ft per HD) or a cone (5 ft per HD), chosen upon obtaining this feature. Sonic deals a die size smaller (1d3). They can use their breath attack once every 5 rounds.

At 3rd level, the power of their breath weapon fully unlocks. Their damage rises to 1d6 per level (1d4 sonic) and the cooldown becomes once every 1d4 rounds.

Dragon Magic: Dragons are innately magical. If a mineralscale dragon lacks any spontaneous arcane spellcasting, they gain the spellcasting and caster level of a 1st level sorcerer. This spellcasting is not increased further by the progression of this class (but it can be progressed by other prestige classes). If you have, or later obtain, spontaneous arcane spellcasting you can instead benefit of the Accelerated Progression (if you have Sorcerer casting) or Ascended Progression (if you have bard spellcasting) feat. This replaces the initial non-scaling sorcerer level you would otherwise obtain, and does not stack.

Permanent Scales (Ex): You can now benefit from a material on your scales permanently via the Mineral Scales ability by consuming the full value of the material. Your scales persist until you choose to make a new permanent material, and your scales can temporarily change with a normal application of Mineral Scales. You qualify for (and may consume additional material) the appropriate armor categories when you reach them. For example, a 5 HD dragon can consume the cost for medium adamantine armor, and gain medium adamantine armor benefits, or choose to only spend for light adamantine armor and its benefits.

Frightful Presence (Su): A 2nd level mineralscale dragon paragon gains the frightful presence of their dragon kin. Whenever a mineralscale dragon attacks, charges, or flies overhead they can provoke a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 HD + Cha modifier) against being rendered shaken for 1 minute out to 90 ft, save negates. Creatures with HD less than your ECL -4 instead save against being frightened, or shaken on a successful save for 1 round (minimum 0, so you are not able to do this until 5 HD). Dragons are immune to your frightful presence.

Mineralized Natural Weapons (Ex): At level 2, you may apply the benefit of Mineral Scales and Permanent Scales to your natural weapons, allowing you to have silver claws, adamantine teeth, or similar effects. You pay for the costs as if they were one-handed weapons.

Ability Boost: At 3rd level, a mineralscale dragon paragon increases their Constitution score by +2. This is followed with an increase to Charisma +2 at 4th, and a +2 Strength increase at 5th.

Blindsense (Ex): The 4th level mineralscake dragon paragon gains blindsense out to 30 ft.

Spell Resistance (Su): A 5th level mineralscale dragon paragon obtains spell resistance equal to their HD + 8.

Mineralscale Dragon Paragons in the Game

Adaptation: The spontaneous arcane spellcasting can be changed or loosened to account for things such as psionic dragons such as the crystal true dragons, or unusual breeds drawing power from other sources.
