  • Intelligence-based.
  • All functions of Appraise and Craft.
  • Craft is no longer split into multiple skills. Instead, when a character places their first skill point into Craft, and every five skill points after, they select one discipline in which to be proficient.
  • Additional subskills can be acquired for two skill points each, or in place of some or all of the additional languages a character receives for a high Intelligence.
  • The character uses their full Craft bonus for all checks pertaining to their disciplines. Other Craft checks are made as simple Intelligence checks.

  • All functions of Decipher Script and Forgery.
  • If Tome of Magic is used, all functions of Truenaming.
  • Subsumes Speak Language. When a character places their first skill point into Linguistics, and every five skill points after, they select one language to speak/read/write.
  • Additional languages are acquired for two skill points each, or as usual for a character with a high Intelligence.
  • Speaking/writing a known language doesn't typically require checks; a character uses their full Linguistics bonus for any checks that may be necessary, and to decipher/forge documents.

  • All functions of Profession.
  • All functions of Heal. This is covered under Profession (Healer) or similar.
  • All functions of Perform. This is covered under Profession (Orator) or similar.
  • Profession is no longer split into multiple skills. Instead, when a character places their first skill point into Profession, and every five skill points after, they select one area of expertise.
  • Additional areas of expertise are acquired for two skill points each, or in place of some or all of the additional languages a character receives for a high Intelligence.
  • The character uses their full Profession bonus for all checks pertaining to their areas of expertise. Other Profession checks are made as simple Wisdom checks.
