The Flagstaff is nothing more than a metal quarterstaff which is commonly adorned with a flag. However unlike a normal flagpole it is actually meant for battle. It takes a bit more skill to use than the quarterstaff due to the drag inducing flag on one end, but using it in battle can be a beautiful dance as the colors flap away. It is a favorite of quarterstaff using commanders in great battles, where they bolster the troops while fighting.

Because one can adorn your own colors to the flagpole, with a successful DC 15 Perform (Dance) or other appropriate perform skill with grant a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 morale bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls to yourself and all allies within 90 ft of the user, when attacking, and 5 rounds after the last attack. The perform check is a swift action, extra flair to your blow. This effect is very similar to bardic music. The effect is non-magical.

If you have access to Heroes of Battle, the Flagstaff is a valid target for Heraldic Crests, provided that the minimum requirements to possess one are met.

For all intent and purpose for feats, class abilities, and more, a flagstaff counts as a quarterstaff.
