Restorative Timestone[edit]

A extremely valuable but rare artifact said to be the products of strange and alien disruptions in time and space, often when a large period of time ceases to simply be. But rather than vanishing, the lost time compresses into a fantastically small and dense silvery transparent crystal, like a pearl of pure quintessence, and yet deceptively heavy at 8 lbs for a single pearl. They are useful for nearly anyone, but especially for classes which have limited use abilities per day, such as many spellcasters.

The timestone is durable, but willing it to be crushed it enough to cause it to destabilize and take on the consistency of jelly. When the timestone is crushed as a standard action, the user is briefly taken through time at high speed leaving a swirling and impenetrable vortex in its place which lasts for 1d4 rounds. The user benefits from a full 8 hours of rest, including the ability to re-prepare spells, recover hit points and ability damage, and other such effects. 8 hours have not actually passed, and spell durations treat it as if the user was traveling at normal time, nor can the user perform any other actions other than resting and preparing spells. It is a result of the lost time suddenly playing out violently, and then evaporating. After it is used, the artifact is consumed.

Classes which have no spellcasting, manifesting, or similar, restore a number of hp equal to the class's maximum hit dice in addition to the healing from rest. For example, a fighter 3/wizard 7 would recover 10 hp (from having 10 HD) plus an additional 30 hp from the three fighter levels.

Supposedly the super rare crystals have other functions involving complex time altering spells and powers, but these details are lost to time.
